ADDITIONALLY, starting in 2020:

Historicon recognizes the amount of money and time GMs commit when preparing and running events for our show. So, new for GMs this year, as a way of showing our appreciation for all your hard work, we’re initiating additional compensation for our GMs. In addition to the free GM admission policy, we’ll be awarding vouchers to GMs based on their time spent running events at the show. In line with volunteer compensation (which increases for every 5 hours of volunteering time), GMs will now receive a voucher for every 5 hours of additional game time (game time not player hours) after their badge has been earned. This is a start of efforts that come from our desire to better compensate our hard-working GMs.

As an example, a GM who runs a single 4-hour event for 6 players (24 hours of event credit) will receive their free badge but no additional compensation. Every additional five hours spent running games will earn GMs a voucher. Additionally, one hour will be added for each setup and teardown. So a GM who runs that same event three time will receive their free GM badge (24 hours of event credit) for their first event and a voucher for their time running the additional two events (4+4 hours plus 1 hour because he only had to set up and tear down the event once for a total of 9 hours) at the show. If they ran it four times they'd receive their free GM badge (24 hours of event credit) for their first event and two vouchers for their time running the additional three events (4+4+4 hours plus 1 hour because he only had to set up and tear down the event once for a total of 13 hours) at the show. Any leftover hours are lost.

Vouchers (currently valued at $12) can be used for food or in the exhibit hall. We’ll be reviewing this program after the show and making possible revisions as necessary. This is a starting point as part of our desire to better compensate our hard working GMs. Thank you for all your hard work.

PLEASE NOTE: Convention Management reserves the right to refuse any game or admission.
