BOOK REVIEW: Andrew Jackson and the Miracle of New Orleans: The Battle That Shaped America's Destiny

by Brian Kilmeade and Don Yaeger

Part early bio and part battle description, this breezy read zips along and provides a good overview of the strategy and moves that led to the Battle of New Orleans. I wish I had read this prior to my visit to the battlefield of Chalmette. Of particular interest was Jackson's spoiling attack at night at the British landing site before the King's army ever got to Chalmette. A bloody nose, indeed! Enjoyed it.
